Welcome To Stockton Surf Club
Stockton Surf Life Saving Club is situated at the southern end of the Stockton Bight, which stretches from the northern side of the Hunter River at Newcastle to Birubi Point, a distance of 23 miles.
The Surf Club provides lifesaving services over the summer months, with members patrolling the beach on weekends and public holidays from September-April each year.
Stockton Surf Life Saving Club has a range of programs for everyone, including Nippers Program, a Youth Development Program, Surf Sports and provides a range of education and training.
Our Iconic History
Stockton Surf life Saving Club is the second oldest surf life saving club in the Hunter Branch, forming five days after Newcastle SLSC on 15 January 1908.
However life saving activities were in full swing in Stockton in the early 1860’s. The “Stockton Rocket Brigade” were a group of men devoted to the rescue of seafarers who became shipwrecked trying to enter Newcastle Harbour.
Historical records show that the men who crewed the Rocket Brigade rescue boats were the same men that later formed the Stockton SLSC.
Our Volunteer Members
Our small club relies heavily on our dedicated volunteer members who are vital to the operation of our lifesaving obligations. All members are trained by qualified volunteer training officers in lifesaving skills used in all areas of surf patrolling.
The skills obtained are updated each year with proficiencies conducted to ensure a high standard is maintained, that is both beneficial to members and the community.
Fun In The Sun
Being a member of Stockton Surf Club offers the individual various activities to be involved in.
Whether its performing surf patrols, kids in Nippers, parents competing in Masters or the Senior Surf Sports competition, there are plenty of ways to test your skills and have fun in the sun.
