The erosion of Stockton Beach is at a crisis point and time is critical for a unified response.
Dr Willow Forsyth of Stockton Surf Life Saving Club has kindly summarised the following gaps in the draft long-term (10-40yr) beach management plan. With a view of protecting our homes, beach and community. We seek your support for our community petition.

Key gaps in the approach
1. Mass Sand Nourishment: does not consider the volume of sand required to rebuild the beach and reduce the risk of storm-surge suburb-wide flooding.
2. Ongoing sand top-ups: does not identify who is responsible to deliver and pay for sand top ups.
3. David Allen: Does not give David Allen a license to dump local sand at Stockton.
4. North Stockton access: Does not guarantee access to North Stockton

Required ‘Principled’ Changes:
a) NSW Government take ownership of the Ongoing Sand Top-up program
b) Timeline for Mass Sand Nourishment driven by disaster (storm/flood) modelling
c) Apply Disaster Risk Reduction principles to Coastal Management Program

Please sign the Stockton Surf Lfe Saving Club community petition here. The petition requires at least 1,000 signatures before close on 14 April. Stockton residents wear the risk of losing our homes, beach and community while the NSW Government is forecast to earn $13.3bn over the next 4 years.

We thank you for your time in reading this bulletin and actively contributing to the longevity of our suburb and this critical community asset, Stockton Beach.
